My name is Henry Hyde, and welcome to my web site. I'm the chief instructor and owner of Hyde Tae Kwon Do which is the home of State and National Champions. I was born in December 1953 at Tampa General Hospital. I went to school in Pinellas County and after school, in 1971 I went into the United States Army, 82nd Airborne division. While in the military, overseas in 1974, I got involved in Tae Kwon Do. I was on the U.S. Army team in Vincenza, Italy and have studied Shotokan (Karate) and Lima Lama (Polynesian style of Kung-Fu) before Tae Kwon Do. While married to my first wife, I had three children, Kellie, Jered, and Tyler.

After getting out of the military, I went into college,  studied criminology and then went into Law Enforcement. While in Law Enforcement, I worked as a School Resource Officer, K-9 Officer, and was a firearm and self defense instructor.

My training in Martial Arts continued here in the United States, when I studied under Grand Master Oh, until 1995 when I went out on my own. I taught out of my garage for two years and then opened my first location which I've been at for four years, and have opened my new location with separate changing rooms for men and women.

I'm presently a KukkiWon certified Fifth Dan Black Belt. I've been Florida State Champion three times, in forms and sparring, and a 2005 US Open Coach. I have produced both State and National Champions, both Juniors and Seniors. I'm level one certified in Kick boxing under the Joe Lewis System and am also a certified Compliance Direction Takedown (CDT) instructor. I'm affiliated with the United States Tae Kwon Do Union , The World Tae Kwon Do Federation,  and National Association of Professional Martial Artists.
